Bow skirt

This is my first outfit/refashion for my NEW idea I had (remember that idea I wrote about a few posts ago?)! I decided to do my own for you guys so you all can get my vision!!

Here was that skirt I refashioned while visiting my mom on friday! I bought it from the DI for 4 bucks and it was a bit large and incharge. So, I fixed it up! You can't see all the details because it is black, so I will explain! There are buttons going down the center of the dress and a big bow tied in the front! I got the inspiration from a tan Modcloth skirt I posted a few posts ago. Anyway, this is how you do it (yes! I finally posted a tutorial with pictures):
Cut to the desired length

cut a section from the excess fabric to the thickness x2 of the bow (I wanted mine 3 inches thick, so I cut a 6 inch section). Yo may want the bow to be extra long, so you would have to use more fabric than this. I just wanted a small bow.
Sew ties with points at the ends (they don't have to be perfect....ahem, mine aren't very beautiful)
Turn right side out and press! See, a little prettier, maybe.
Pin the non-pointed ends of the ties to your desired spot on the front of your dress.

Then fold it back over so it is pointed toward the center and covering the ugly ends of the tie. If you want you can seam rip here instead and slide the tie end in and sew.

Tie a bow...or have your mom tie it like I did. She is a PRO. Thanks mom!
